JFE Shoji Enhances Amorphous Core Production Capacity

JFE Shoji Power Canada has completed a major upgrade to its amorphous transformer core production line, including a new automated conveyance system, annealing oven, and enhanced processing equipment. The investment increases the line’s capacity, improves production consistency, and strengthens our ability to support growing demand for amorphous cores across North America.

Amorphous metal, a high-efficiency electrical steel with a disordered atomic structure, has been widely adopted by Canadian utilities over the past decade. The material is ideal for distribution transformers, especially in urban and residential areas where load variability is high.

As U.S. utilities and transformer manufacturers prepare for new Department of Energy efficiency standards in 2029, these upgrades reinforce JFE Shoji Power Canada’s position as a reliable North American supplier of high-performance amorphous cores.
